The year, 2019, has been spectacular thus far for graphic design, and nothing is holding it back from setting new trends and breaking old records and pushing its boundaries. While specific trends were predicted earlier this year, the scale at which these have been experimented and used in design across the globe is undoubtedly astonishing. While the list is never-ending, we have compiled some of the top trends for 2019 in no order.
1. Bold colors
Extending from 2018 of vibrant colors, this year’s color palette is all bold. Pantone released its color pallet earlier this year and announced the color of the year, i.e. ‘Living Coral,’ an energetic color tone with an undertone of golden.

2. Isometric design
Isometric design is still a niche area of work for designers but is becoming popular with time.
Isometric drawing is the creation of a 3D model in a 2D space.
These designs have come under the spotlight and are being adopted rapidly by designers since its icons have shape, simplicity, and depth all in one place.

3. Animations
To enhance the user experience, and add life to the overall design, animations are being used frequently, especially in web design, to overcome the boredom associated with static models. Use of animations has shown increased levels of user interactions with the product being promoted.

4. Asymmetry
Asymmetry is genuinely a disruption in the field of design, which has made a mark in the area itself despite all the critique.
Ironically, asymmetry is known best to create harmony and to enhance the overall composition.
While it is a shift from strict, rigid designs, it creates curiosity and indulges user to interact with the design deeply and helps to unleash the composition used.

5. Gradients
Never underestimate the power of gradients! Gradients’ powerful comeback in 2017-2018 has undoubtedly continued in 2019 as well. They are widely used in companies’ logos such as Apple and Instagram and hence has convinced other designers to seek inspiration from these tech design giants. This has been adopted to the extent that the one-color tone logo isn’t enough anymore and give an overall dull look to the final design.

6. Real-life images
Gone are the days when clipart and other still images used to flood our designs. 2019 is all about customization, adding depth to your work, and allowing users to interact profoundly with the design; one thing that surely helps with this is ‘real-life stock photography’. Websites such as Unsplash and Pexels has a plethora of stock photography with themes from all subjects.
